Overview
of "People Like Us"
"People Like Us"
(PLUS) will run on your organisation’s own intranet or
web site, or can be hosted by a third party. So everyone has access when
required.
Although it is
computer based, for employees who really cannot use a personal computer PLUS
can be used in group sessions instead, as a teaching aid.
Password-protected online management reports
tell you:
-
Who has started
the course;
-
How far they
have progressed, and
-
How well they
have performed in some simple quizzes at the end of each module,
.. so a manager
can tell who still needs to be encouraged to complete the course.
PLUS is structured into modules that look at:
- What stress
is
- What are the
causes of stress in both their private life and the workplace
- The health
implications of long term stress
- How to
recognise symptoms of stress in oneself and others
- How to deal
with the pressures that would otherwise lead to stress and possibly to ill
health
- Healthy
lifestyle
- Employee
responsibilities
There is a
module that looks specifically at Work Related Stress and a section that makes it clear that everyone has
responsibilities, including the employee, in reducing stress and the associated
risks. The course is designed to support employer efforts to comply with the
HSE Management Standards for Stress announced in 2004, so (for example) it
uses the same six stressor groups and it encourages employees to come forward
and discuss any issues with an appropriate person.

Special Requirements
PLUS
can
be tailored to meet special requirements on payment of an appropriate fee.
For example, we
can:
-
include your
company stress policy statement and details of any stress management
provisions you have in place
-
add or
substitute to include your company logo or house style
-
add modules to
deal with specific industry requirements or abnormal working conditions.
